Presentations

We’ve proudly hosted Olympic champions, world record holders, nutritionists, training experts, sports psychologists, and academic advisors as keynote speakers. Our evening lecture series features a comprehensive overview of the technical, physical, mental, and tactical skills necessary for advancing your performance level. Additional special topics ranging academic preparation, sports nutrition, and the college recruiting process are also traditionally covered.

Recreation

We will stage the popular “Iron Wood Games” as part of our extracurricular activity schedule. This event has become a popular happening at the camp and everyone looks forward to it each year. Campers will also have use of the campus weight room during recreational periods under the supervision of the camp staff.

Unfortunately, insurance liability concerns prohibit Iron Wood from permitting campers use of the campus pool.

Safety

A certified athletic trainer will be on duty at all sessions.

Awards

Our sponsors present the “Iron Wood Award” for one male and one female athlete from each event at the conclusion of the camp. Several items from our camp store will also be randomly distributed as door prizes throughout the week.

Testimonials

" Iron Wood was my introduction to what elite level throwing was all about. Until attending Iron Wood, I thought throwing was a fun challenge that could occupy my time in between basketball and football seasons. The camp planted the seed of an Olympic dream in me and encouraged me to have an identity shift from a basketball player throwing for fun to a discus thrower playing basketball for fun. It was truly a life changing moment for me when Mac Wilkins arrived at the camp and passed around his gold medal. "

excerpts from a testimony from Casey Malone, 6th place at the 2004 Olympics
